For the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (II Corinthians 10:4)
Evangelist, Recording Artist, Wife, and Mother. Martha Barnes lives the spoken
word, “To whom much is given, much is required” and will be the first to say that “power” belongs
to God. Each opportunity is an assignment that allows God to prove Himself strong
on her behalf. Minister Barnes has traveled around the U.S.
and abroad fulfilling her God given assignment as a psalmist and Evangelist at concert hall, stages, and churches.
She is a member and ordained Elder of The River Church,
in Durham, NC where the founders
are Bishop Joby and Pastor Sheryl Brady. In this ministry she serves as one of
the front line Ministers, a leader in the Prison Ministry, and assists in the Outreach Department. It is here she is able to sit and hear the voice of God clearly.
It is here she has been able to grow and to become a gift to the Body of Christ.
Having recorded several music projects, Evangelist Martha appears as a
guest artist on Luther Barnes newest project “Barnes Family Reunion II”, ministering
in a song written by her husband titled “Abide”. Currently, she travels
with her husband speaking and singing God’s word and they have seen God move mightily in the midst of their services.
Born the fourth child of eight to James and Evelyn Morgan, Evangelist
Barnes thanks God for humble beginnings and the values instilled within her as a young child growing up in a christian home. She
later met and married the love of her life, Elder Melvin Barnes and they have been married for the past 28 years. Elder
Barnes is the son of Bishop FC and the late Mother Barnes, who pastors the Red
Budd United Holy
Church in Rocky Mount, NC.
She received her education at United
Christian College, Goldsboro
and Jacksonville Theological Seminary in Jacksonville,
Florida.
The call is great, and she recognizes that staying humble, maintain focus and seeking the face of God are the steps she
must take to walk the path assigned to her. For the Harvest is truly great, but
the laborers are few.
